2016 was an interesting year, the UK has literally had the highs and lows of the property market rolled into one. There has been a Brexit vote, new tenancy laws, estate agency laws and landlord laws chucked into the mix. Let’s just say that it is going to take a mystic meg to see where the future lies.
Keystones Property has taken huge strides over the past year or so. We have moved into our flagship shopfront offices in Collier Row literally painting the town blue with our boards. Our management department has grown too and we have improved our systems and processes in this department and the numbers of staff has also grown seeing three new additions to the team with Chris Killgallon as our Sales & Lettings Manager, Laraine Tarrant overseeing the Property Management side of things and Simona Rastenyte our newest recruit learning the ropes as a new Property Advisor.
Keystones were also proud winners of the Gold Award for Best Estate Agent in Romford for the British Property Awards and earned a Bronze Award for Best Agent in London East. It was a proud moment personally for me and I owe all my gratitude to the staff and team we have.
The sales market in 2016 kicked off with a bang as property prices were soaring to record heights and open house days were flying off the Richter scale with volumes of house viewers. Keystones were selling properties so high that our vendors were getting nosebleeds – ok, I will stop with the jokes! Then, it happened. The Brexit vote gripped the nation and I remembering waking up early to a shock that the public had voted to come out of Europe. Within a matter of days, the number of viewers dried up, Sales and Lettings properties were struggling to shift and the market had quite a bit of stock lingering on the market as the market was literally sitting on the fence. The hype and hysteria of the Brexit vote hit our vendors and landlord with such shock that the market came to a standstill. The reality was that Britain hadn’t even come out of Europe yet and the dooming news on the property market was literally hearsay. Keystones were in the middle of negotiating the new shop and it was quite unsettling because without my crystal ball with me it was hard to consider the future and know what to do.
However, we bit the bullet, took the calculated risk and made the right choice as the market picked up again from the June drop and by October properties were selling again. The market has changed though, it has become healthier and Keystones are still achieving great prices for our vendors and landlords but we have been a success as one of the estate agents in collier row by tailoring our marketing strategies to suit your property’s needs. We are still that bespoke, tailor made service that we always once were, we have just had a growth spurt.
I would like to say thank you to all our Vendors and Landlords who supported our business in 2016 and who are continuing to do so in 2017.
